The Column of the Holy Trinity

The eleven-metre high Baroque Column of the Holy Trinity is a part of a sculptural group consisting of eight sculptures of saints, placed in two circles around a square pedestal.

The column bears an inscription in Czech, German and Latin, according to which it was built by order of the Trutnov citizen Jan Jiří Najdík. The date of its erection is encrypted in the Latin version of the text - the highlighted capital letters written as Roman figures show the year of the erection of the column - 1704. In the 16th century, a pillory used to stand in this place, where executions were carried out exceptionally.
